Basawakkulama Tank
This is the Abhaya Veva constucted by King Pandukabaya in the 4th century B.C According to the chronicle " Maha Vamsa" the very first tank in the city of Anuradhapura has been built by Price Anuradha in the southern quarter of the city. Abhaya Veva or Abhayavapi belongs to the ancient  traditional system of village tanks. Tank covers an area of around 130 hectares at present.
